Whoodunit? Get participants to type on the whiteboard, a fact about themselves that most people don’t already know. Such as;
I once ate witchetty grubs.
I was arrested once.
I have been skydiving.
I once drank 2 litres of milk.
The funnier or stranger the statement the better.
When everyone has written their fact, each person is given a fact; they then try to guess who wrote it, only one guess each, if they guess correctly, the person concerned gives a brief explanation of how or why they did what they did, e.g. I once ate witchetty grubs: It was for a bet.
At the end everyone reveals which was their fact.
DISCUSSION 1Why clean and sanitise?
It must have been something that I ate that is making me feel ill!
We have all heard that comment before, in fact, many of us have most likely said something similar at one time or another.
It is estimated that approximately 11,000 Victorian's per day (or approximately, 3.5 million per year) get some form of food poisoning.
Food poisoning symptoms can vary from being a minor inconvenience to having serious complications and, in some extreme cases, can even be fatal.
Children, the elderly and people with existing medical problems are most at risk.
The cost to the Victorian economy is estimated to be over 2 billion dollars (which accounts for hospital and medical costs, rehabilitation costs, lost workdays and replacing sick workers).
What do you think would be the flow on effect if food poisoning was wiped out?
DISCUSSION 2
Here's the procedure to follow when you wash your hands
1. Use the hand-washing sink, not the food preparation sinks
2. Rinse your hands with hot water to remove surface grime
3. Use an antibacterial soap (preferably from a dispenser)
4. Rub your hands together to work up a lather
5. Rinse off soap
6. Dry with an air dryer or disposable paper towel
It's very important that you wash your hands this way, to avoid introducing bacteria to the food you are preparing.
It's also important that you know when to wash your hands.
What are your thoughts on WHEN you should wash your hands?
DISCUSSION 3
Bacteria are the most ancient life forms Most bacteria are so small that under a light microscope you can only see them as little dots. Some groups however grow to larger sizes and have spectacular shapes.
Bacteria were the most prominent creatures in the early stages of life's history almost 4000 million years until 600 million years ago. What do you know about bacteria?
Are they harmful or good? Why?

Have I completed all given tasks?
Did I perform them adequately?
If I could have done them better, how?
What is the most important thing that I have learned?
